I just wanted to take a moment this evening to let you know that I recently finished one of the largest paintings I have ever done – “Spring at Crawford Notch.” The painting is oil on canvas and the size is 48” x 36” (~53” x ~41” framed size). The scene is showing the view from the valley looking towards the White Mountains.

I have wanted to paint this view for 5 years and was finally able to accomplish this goal! I hope you enjoy seeing this piece!

Crawford Notch is such a beautiful place, that I will probably plan to do some other paintings of this area at some point in the future. For now I would like to show you another smaller painting I did in 2007-2008 of this Notch – however, this view is looking from the White Mountains down into the valley – “Autumn at Crawford Notch” - Acrylic on gesso board 36”x12” (39”x15” framed size).

I have spent some time improving my web site over the past few months. Last week I put up a new page called PROGRESS where anyone can see short movies of my latest finished paintings as I created them (from beginning to end!). Also, I added a new page called ON EASEL today. This page provides you with a chance to have a "sneak peek" into my studio to see what I am currently working on. I will be changing these images often as my work progresses.

Recently I applied to many national and international competitions and was honored to be a finalist for the following contests:
- The American Artist Magazine’s 2009 Cover Art Competition
- "International Artist Magazine’s" 2009 Flowers & Gardens Art Competition (Published in Issue No. 66)

I spend more time doing my web site improvement in last month, than paintings. Last week I put new page PROGRESS where anyone can see a little movies with my latest paintings step-by-step prosess.

I just received a letter from Karen Stanger Johnston, Editor for the American Artist magazine, that "Roses on Silk" has been chosen as the finalist in the American Artist magazine’s 2009 Cover Art Competition. The winner has not yet been determined. My piece, along with the information about the artist and the working process, will appear in the June issue of the American Artist Magazine.

I will take a break from watercolor miniatures to concentrate my time on a few oil paintings that I have been working on for over a year. One of them has been sitting on an easel for more than 19 months! I think it is time finish them! The “Three Lilies”’ painting has been my priority – it was a commissioned work. I’m very pleased with the result and was glad (and a little relieved) when the new owners where happy with the finished painting.
