Optical illusion on canvas.



“Lilies Duet” oil painting on canvas 20”x20” is my firs painting I did in Trompe l'oeil technique. This was one of my long term projects that took me two years to finish, but it was very interesting one to work on and I am happy with the result.
Trompe l'oeil, (French for 'deceive the eye') is an art technique involving extremely realistic imagery in order to create the optical illusion that the depicted objects appear in three dimensions.

Put all my effort to find time (between job, college classes, and shoveling never ending snow) and finish this painting before the deadline for the Salon International -2011 competition.

I recently came back home after my long journey to my motherland. Now I am slowly adjusting to American time and getting back to a normal life routine. I have not painted for over two months, but I finished a couple of paintings of spring blossom just before I left on my trip. Enjoy!

I will take a break from watercolor miniatures to concentrate my time on a few oil paintings that I have been working on for over a year. One of them has been sitting on an easel for more than 19 months! I think it is time finish them! The “Three Lilies”’ painting has been my priority – it was a commissioned work. I’m very pleased with the result and was glad (and a little relieved) when the new owners where happy with the finished painting.
