Put all my effort to find time (between job, college classes, and shoveling never ending snow) and finish this painting before the deadline for the Salon International -2011 competition.

"Snow Lace", original oil painting on canvas 11"х14"
This painting was part of my demonstration for oil workshop I was teaching last weekend.

Comments on my oil workshop:

I became familiar with Varvara’s work several years ago when my husband and I visited a local gallery and greatly admired her painting. Ultimately, we purchased an original watercolor of hers and it hangs in our vacation home. I e-mailed her about the possibility of doing workshops. Happily, she e-mailed me back with the opportunity to participate in what was the ABSOLUTE BEST painting workshop I have ever taken! Varvara has not only the ability to execute an exquisite painting, but also the unique ability to communicate and share her knowledge. All this, along with her availability to her students long after her workshops as a consult is invaluable. I highly recommend Varvara as a teacher and mentor. I will definitely continue to participate in any workshop she has because the amount of knowledge she has to offer is immeasurable.

I just wanted to take a moment this evening to let you know that I recently finished one of the largest paintings I have ever done – “Spring at Crawford Notch.” The painting is oil on canvas and the size is 48” x 36” (~53” x ~41” framed size). The scene is showing the view from the valley looking towards the White Mountains.

I have wanted to paint this view for 5 years and was finally able to accomplish this goal! I hope you enjoy seeing this piece!

Crawford Notch is such a beautiful place, that I will probably plan to do some other paintings of this area at some point in the future. For now I would like to show you another smaller painting I did in 2007-2008 of this Notch – however, this view is looking from the White Mountains down into the valley – “Autumn at Crawford Notch” - Acrylic on gesso board 36”x12” (39”x15” framed size).

If you would like to see a larger image, please click on the name of the paintings below:

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me.
